Tommy Castro And The Painkillers with Black Pine Revival

***Doors @ 5pm for this show***

Tommy Castro
is a multiple award–winning guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader who has spent more than four decades at the forefront of American blues and rock. Based in California, he’s built a reputation as a powerhouse performer, captivating audiences worldwide with his soul-drenched voice, fiery guitar work, and electrifying live shows.
As the driving force behind his band, Tommy Castro & The Painkillers—a group known for its near-telepathic chemistry and rowdy, high-octane performances—Castro has released 17 albums covering a wide stylistic spectrum. His music moves effortlessly from horn-fueled R&B and passionate soul to raw, stripped-down rock and electric blues.
His newest release, Closer To The Bone —his eighth album for Alligator Records—marks a return to his deepest roots. Produced by guitar virtuoso Christoffer “Kid” Andersen at the famed Greaseland Studio in San Jose, the record is Castro’s most unfiltered and hard-hitting blues statement yet. The collection features standout originals such as Ain’t Worth The Heartache , Can’t Catch A Break , and Crazy Woman Blues , alongside inspired covers of songs by friends and mentors including Johnny Nitro, Magic Slim, Ron Thompson, and Chris Cain. The album also boasts guest appearances from Rick Estrin, Billy Branch, Deanna Bogart, Jim Pugh, Chris Cain, and gospel powerhouses The Sons of the Soul Revivers.

Black Pine Revival hails from the Northern California foothills above Chico, California.

Michael Russell, Grayson Katka, and Mike Waltz formed their trio in early 2023, playing music described as Americana roots rock with a wide swing to country and blues. Since then, they’ve honed their craft and stage presence playing to regional audiences, opening for Tim Bluhm (The Mother Hips), Hot Buttered Rum, and recording their first full length album, Dirt Angels.

Set to release in the summer 2025, this two volume set was recorded in their home studio nestled in their beloved hills. And that love is felt, through their smoking rhythms and high-flying guitars, and transforms on stage into a damn good time.
All three band members have played and toured extensively with the likes of Electric Circus, The Tim Bluhm Band, Lo and Behold, Erin Haley & Firefly, The Russell Turner Ward, Chad Bushnell, and Clayton Lee, just to name a few. With Black Pine Revival, they’re here to bring this love and music and fun, doing their part to help us all enjoy this beautiful life.
